The Scott Arms, Kingston

4.5 (298 reviews)·Gastropub·££·Kingston

A charming village pub with panoramic views over Corfe Castle and the Purbeck Hills.

The Scott Arms sits in the tiny village of Kingston, high on the Purbeck ridge, and commands one of the most spectacular views of any pub in Dorset — a sweeping panorama across to the ruins of Corfe Castle and the rolling Purbeck Hills beyond.

This is a proper village pub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The menu focuses on honest, home-cooked food using locally sourced ingredients: Dorset steaks, fresh fish from the coast, hearty pies, and excellent Sunday roasts. The real ales are always well-kept, with Palmers and other Dorset breweries well represented.

The beer garden is the star attraction — on a clear day, the view across to Corfe Castle is simply breathtaking. It's the perfect reward after tackling the coastal walks around St Aldhelm's Head and Worth Matravers, which are just a short drive away.

The pub is dog-friendly throughout, making it an ideal stop for walkers with four-legged companions. In winter, the log fires and cosy interior make it equally appealing.
